LA jury awards more than $1 million to fired coach

Selwyn Young, a former  baseball coach at Los Angeles City College, was awarded more than $1 million in his  lawsuit against the College.

Young claimed he experienced racial discrimination and sexual harassment while he was the head baseball coach at LACC in 2006 and 2007. The lawsuit claimed he was then illegally fired after reporting alleged academic fraud and financial misconduct.

The jury rejected the harassment and discrimination claims but found for Young on his retaliation claim and awarded him $1.12 million.
