Employees Can to Bring Weapons to Work in Texas and Wisconsin

Texas and Wisconsin have passed laws permitting employees to keep weapons in their cars or on company property, as long as the weapons are stored safely and securely. The laws do not allow employees to bring guns into the workplace, nor can they carry the weapons in any area or in a manner otherwise prohibited by state or federal law. The Texas law takes effect on Sept. 1, 2011, and the Wisconsin law takes effect on Nov. 1, 2011. Employers in these states should review their policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these new laws.
