California Guarantees Continued Health Care for Pregnant Employees on Leave


Employers with five or more employees must maintain and pay for health insurance coverage under their group health plans for female employees who take leave pursuant to the California Family Rights Act.  Female employees are entitled to take up to four months of leave due to pregnancy, childbirth or related medical condition.  The employee is entitled to precisely the same coverage she would have received had she not taken a leave.
